Biggenden 21.6.26

Sunday- After a busy morning finishing the cleaning and tidying of our house and shed it was time to load up the cruiser and tidy up the caravan.  We have been sleeping in the van for a week as the house was being emptied.

A fond farewell to our home of nearly 20 years. We were all hitched up and departed for Biggenden ~ 2.45pm. I followed Mark in my car as it's eventually going to live in Bundaberg.  I had some 10c containers to drop off at the church and a couple of tubs of 'stuff' for the op shop to deliver.

By the time I got to Dallarnil it was raining and didn't stop for hours. We have parked up at Rachel and John's farm for 2 nights. We travelled 102 kms.

Monday- a beautiful sunrise to wake up to.

I just 'played' with Rachel and the boys for most of the day while Mark ran around doing stuff for the sale of the house.
A wild peacock not in a hurry to move off the driveway.
Just caught the end of the sunset.

Tuesday- Out for an early wander.

Mark and I spent most of the day in Maryborough today.
We checked out the Town Hall toilets. It's not very often I get to go in the men's toilets but couldn't resist the offer to admire the art work of the 'cistern chapel'

The ladies Golden Throne.
We had dinner with the family before returning to the van with the heater on low.

Wednesday- A very chilly start to the morning

We decided to celebrate the signing of the house contract with dinner at the Maryborough services club. It is our normal pub night after all.

Finally we are set to depart. Tomorrow morning we will head to Bundaberg for 2 nights.

An extra photo we just received from Issac and Skye's wedding 💙ðŸĐ·

Pre trip- May/June 2026

Our long awaited trip around Australia ðŸ‡Ķ🇚 has been in the planning for over a year. We are going for an unknown length of time. We set our departure date so we would be here for our grandson Issac and Skye's wedding.  They generously gave us plenty of advanced notice 💕ðŸ‘ŦðŸĨ‚ðŸĨģ💍💕

Fortunately (but sadly) Mark has sold his plane and it flew off to a new home in South Australia.

Having 1 last pat 😔

We also had the pleasure of taking our grandson, Cooper,  to the tree top challenge on the Sunshine Coast for his 18th birthday. It was very hard to get photos but he had a great time.

We had a beautiful weekend in Hervey Bay with the family for the wedding and a little ones birthday the next day.

Our youngest grandchild, Ruby, turned 3.

Unfortunately I had a few skin issues to be dealt with before departure, so we delayed leaving for an extra 2 weeks. Even more unfortunately the surgery was delayed by 2 days which caused a minor clash with appointments 😕. Even MORE  unfortunately the surgery wasn't as simple as first expected.  It took 2hrs instead of the 45mins expected as the skin damage was more extensive than they thought.  I ended up with 2 donor skin graft sites, 1 of which has 16 stitches. I won't gross you out with pictures ðŸĪŠ
The recovery has gone well and all the stitches on my nose were taken out after a week.

In the meantime while all this has been happening we have been packing up the house with the intention of putting it on the market later in the year but quite out of the blue we were made and accepted an offer for our house so we went into over drive to get everything organised before our new departure date.
Our household has been put into storage in Biggenden for when we eventually come back.
Just managed to get everything in a 40ft container.
Tomorrow, Sunday 21/6/26, we hope to head off.
