 Gorrie Airfield

During World War II, Gorrie Airfield became the largest aircraft service and repair base in the Territory. The Airfield was named after Flying Officer Peter Gorrie, who was flying one of four Hudson bombers shot down over what is now called Sulawesi in January 1942. The runway was 2 kms long but we ended up walking 5 kms as we found a longer way home.

After our walk I made a batch of cinnamon pancakes for morning tea.

We didn't pack up and leave until 11am as we only had 69kms to drive. We are staying for 3 nights at the Territory Manor Caravan Park.  It's $30 for an unpowered site. 

This afternoon we spent about 2 hrs at Bitter Springs floating in the warm thermal water.

Today we travelled 69 kms, total of 3,036 kms. Today's temperature range was 14-31°
