Day 28. Mimbi Caves campground. 24 7.26

Morning wander, down to the creek, up a fire break and to the Purnululu National Park information boards.

Day 9 of our tour.
Briefing 8.45 for 9 am departure.
Destination Mimbi Caves Campground.
Time on road 3 hrs 45 mins.
Distance to travel 315 kms.

Heading out to Halls Creek there were more burn offs.

Not a town I would relocate to. We were advised to lock everything up. Some of the reviews complained of young locals throwing rocks at cars and vans. Thankfully we didn't stay long enough to witness any of that.
Mary Ponds free camp was our lunch stop. Toilets, dump point, cows and tables were available.  A huge area that is well worth an overnight stop if we were in the area again.

Cockatoos or corellas, not sure but they sure were plentiful and noisy.
Went for a walk down to the old road looking for a 🐊 but only found this pair of old crocs 🤭

Mimbi Caves Campground had a few kms of dirt road.

Site 33 is a large, level, drive through site. I think this is my favourite Campground so far this trip.

Mark has a sore back and i had a ocular migraine so we skipped happy hour and snoozed instead which unfortunately means not much exploring.

The last photo was taken by Jan.

We travelled 315 kms, for a total of 4316 kms.

Todays temperature range was 14-27° & windy.
