Day 18. Katherine. 14.7.26

Today is the day Markie finally gets his birthday present. It has been 'secret squirrel business' up until now. He does have to wait until sunset though. So we filled in the day with a 20 km bike ride, making mini pizzas and a swim.

I'm sure you'll all be happy to know Mark successfully crossed the rail bridge in Katherine this morning. Not dropping on his head this time!

I decided to have the morning off and read while Mark went for another soak/float. He took some photos on the GoPro.
HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY MARKIE.
Marks surprise present was a sunset helicopter flight over all the Katherine Gorge.
Our helicopter.
Cathy also surprised Gunther with a flight. We both had our own private flight.
Our pilot Asia took a couple of photos for us.  Both pilots were amazingly knowledgeable,  friendly and experienced.  You could tell they loved their jobs.
Excitedly waiting for lift off.
I was a bit nervous without a door but it was better for the photos.  The wind really played havoc with my hair. Lucky I had tied it up.

The scenery was spectacular.

From the front window.

C&Gs helicopter.

I was feeling a little more confident and looked down out the doorway.

Looking out from the otherside of the chopper was such a different view.
Checked out some of the beaches.

C&Gs plane just above the horizon.

Time to head back to base sadly.

It was amazing to see how dark it was out the pilots door as to how light it was on our side.
Coming in to land.

What a mess my hair is 🤷‍♀️
What an absolutely epic adventure that was. Mark loved his surprise.

It was home for an easy dinner and a few games of Skip Bo before heading to bed.

The temperature range today was 16-31°
