Late this morning we did a harbour tour of Port Hedland before heading off to catch up with the tour group at Karratha. This is a 40 km round trip.

We drove past the big fish hook a few times.
Iron ore being loaded. This ship is nearly full as you can see by the waterline or plimsoll line.
If you hang your flag out the Seafarers will come and pick you up for a couple of hours of shore time.

They reversed our little boat onto an iron ore ship for anyone who wanted to touch it.
Tour over we raced back to the golf club, hitched up and departed at 1.45 pm.
Stopped on the side of the road to grab a snack from the van and keep going. Very picturesque spot.
The only river we've seen in a while with plenty of water was the Sherlock. The Sherlock River is a 393-kilometre-long river in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, named on 11 July 1861 by explorer Frank Gregory. It flows through an arid landscape into the Indian Ocean.
We were hoping to stop at the town of Roebourne for a coffee but everything was closed, including the old jail above.
We arrived at the Discovery Park in Karratha 4.57 pm. The office closed at 5 pm!!
Both pretty tired, so dinner, dishes, shower, blog and bed time/reading.
